While in Dahlonega a few weekends ago we enjoyed dinner at the Corkscrew Cafe. We had asked the locals the best place to eat for a special dinner (our anniversary) and they said without a doubt, we had to eat at the Corkscrew Cafe. We ran in the pouring rain to get their and were greeted by the staff as soon as they saw us running down the street. We started off with the Escargot and Oysters Rockefeller. We could have made a meal on just these appetizers. They were so good! The baked oysters were some of the best we had ever had and we have been spoiled on fresh seafood from living on the coast before. The salad and bread for the next course were great as well. The vinaigrette dressing with feta on top of the salad was a great treat. For dinner we had the Rib Eye and the Eggplant Mascarpone. The rib eye was phenomenal. The roasted garlic peppercorn cream sauce was a great touch to this perfectly cooked rib eye. The eggplant dish was delicious as well. The cheese made this light pasta dish rich with lots of flavor. We were stuffed and took dessert home. We enjoyed Tiramisu and and Oreo cheesecake. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great dinner. We have not made it out to Habersham winery yet, but were able to taste some of their wines at Flower and Wine Festival in Dahlonega a few weekends ago. We really enjoyed their wine. They were very affordable and enjoyable on a hot spring day. We bought a bottle of the Signet. It was light and crisp. We will definitely be buying more and hope to make it to the vineyard soon to try more! Next time you are in Helen, go try some wines as well!
We attended the Flower and Wine Festival a few weekends ago in Dahlonega. We had so much fun! This was the first time they had wine available as well. They did a great job setting this all up especially considering how extremely hot and humid it was. For $10 a piece you could sample 2 wines from 7 different vineyards. Participating vineyards were Blackstock, Crane Creek, Habersham, Montaluce, Persimmon Creek, Tiger Mountain and Yonah Mountain Vineyards/ Serenity Cellars. All the vineyards had something great to offer.
There were other things to enjoy as well like flowers and plants for sale as well as arts and crafts booths. Check out our pictures and don’t miss this next year!

We stayed at the Smith House last weekend to enjoy the Wine and Flower Festival that was going on. The location is perfect, located right near all the restaurants and shops of downtown. The service was great and we really enjoyed our stay. The outside grounds are very enjoyable. Take a look at some of our pictures!
