Its affordable- In the North Georgia Mountains, your vacation budget can go a lot further. Some destinations will tie up your budget just in lodging, but the mountains have much more to offer. There are affordable lodging choices such as cabins, lake and mountain homes, condos, etc. Many of the great offerings of the mountains such as hiking, swimming, and admiring the gorgeous views are free!

Tons of Activities – the hardest part of this vacation is going to be choosing what to do! There is horseback riding, golf courses, the GA Wine Trail (8 wineries within 30-45 minutes) antiquing, hiking trails, waterfalls, lakes, rivers, boating, fishing, and more.

The Scenery- the views of the North Georgia Mountains are beautiful all year round, but the summer is a great time to see all the green trees on the mountains and the crystal clear rivers and lakes.

Lakes and Rivers- Just to name a few of the choices, you have Lake Chatuge, the Hiawassee River, Lake Nantahala, Chattahoochee River, and more.

Shopping and Restaurants- there are lots of great choices for dining in the area. Whether you are looking for fine dining or a family style restaurant, there are great choices. The shopping offerings have a little bit for everyone. There are gift shops, clothing stores, antique stores, restaurants and more.

While in Dahlonega a few weekends ago we enjoyed dinner at the Corkscrew Cafe. We had asked the locals the best place to eat for a special dinner (our anniversary) and they said without a doubt, we had to eat at the Corkscrew Cafe. We ran in the pouring rain to get their and were greeted by the staff as soon as they saw us running down the street. We started off with the Escargot and Oysters Rockefeller. We could have made a meal on just these appetizers. They were so good! The baked oysters were some of the best we had ever had and we have been spoiled on fresh seafood from living on the coast before. The salad and bread for the next course were great as well. The vinaigrette dressing with feta on top of the salad was a great treat. For dinner we had the Rib Eye and the Eggplant Mascarpone. The rib eye was phenomenal. The roasted garlic peppercorn cream sauce was a great touch to this perfectly cooked rib eye. The eggplant dish was delicious as well. The cheese made this light pasta dish rich with lots of flavor. We were stuffed and took dessert home. We enjoyed Tiramisu and and Oreo cheesecake. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great dinner. The staff was great and the restaurant was packed, showing how great a restaurant this is. For more information go to:
